Faith in the Social Imagination
People of faith know what that word means, and interestingly so do people of little or no faith.
Faith is the substance of things hoped for (Heb. 11:1) Hope is important, but hope lacks substance until filled with faith. Hope is only a goal-setter. You can hope to have something or to be prosperous or healthy, but it is faith that gives substance and brings about the manifestation of those things hoped for.
In these times, people all over the world in their social imagination are hoping for good news, good jobs, good results etc. Yet, from which world they draw their faith can and is a game changer... if they draw their faith from man's world, then only what is possible in man's world 'imagination' is possible for them. If they draw their faith from God's imagination, then all things are possible.
The worlds were framed by the word of God (Heb. 11:3) This means that all imagination was in His first and last, He is the Alpha and the Omega. Yet, because we live in a fallen state, we have difficulty seeing/knowing that God's imagination is still there and available to us by making a conscious choice to get back into His imagination. In Hebrews 11:1 "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." When you hope for something where does it exist? Only in your mind and heart. It is a possibility. "Through faith we understand the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear." Hebrews 11:3
Guard and build your social imagination by speaking life... when you do, you will find yourself in God's imagination.
Interesting that Paul calls faith evidence. Most people think of faith as mere hope or belief. But That's because most people don't think that belief has substance. Yet we know from our daily lives that belief plays an important part in the things we say and do. if I have faith I can do something, there's good chance I can and will. Now, you take what God says is true, have faith in it and then you see what he says actually happen. Adding faith to fact makes it manifest. Joseph Prince calls this "right believing". Wrong believing leads to failure. Right believing leads to success. So like Paul says, faith in what God says actually becomes the evidence of something rightly believed in and actually makes it become manifest in our experience. Kinda like adding water to freeze-dried food makes it edible. Adding faith to fact makes it happen.
